Larnaca is dominated by the marvellous palm-lined seafront promenade, stretching from the luxury marina and along to the coastal road. With a continental feel, the promenade is popular both day and night for walking, eating and relaxing. At the western end of the promenade is the town's 17th century fort, which now houses the Larnaca Medieval Museum.
There are three main beaches in Larnaca; Mckenzie on the outskirts, Dhekelia beach which stretches for miles forming the backdrop to many of Larnaca's 4 and 5 star hotels and the bustling promenade beach, popular with visitors and Cypriots alike. The locals live and work in harmony with visiting tourists. The town centre is buzzing with activity by day; numerous shops include leather goods and handmade jewellery and nightlife is varied with a choice of many bars, tavernas and restaurants. Behind Larnaca's famous salt lakes you can find the Mosque of Hala sultan Tekke and it is here that the aunt of the prophet Mohammed is said to have died. With easy access to the majority of the island's resorts, exploring couldn't be easier!
